Private Tuscany Wine Tour from Rome

How to visit Tuscany when staying in Rome

Rome is a must see on a trip to Italy, especially if it’s your first time. Another must is Florence and the Iconic countryside of Tuscany, but sometimes visiting them both isn’t possible, or it just may not be part of your plans. However, you’ve heard so much about the gorgeous Tuscan scenery and the region’s excellent wines such as Chianti and Super Tuscans. So, you may be wondering if a Private Tuscany wine tour from Rome is possible? The good news is yes, it is, and despite the distance, it’s easier than you think.

Typical Tuscan Scenery in the Chianti wine districtReach Tuscany by Road or Rail?

A wine tour of Tuscany by road from Rome is possible but the time and expense are both significant. Also, the demands on our services make it impossible for us to offer such a long day. You could of course hire a driver in Rome, but this wouldn’t make it cheaper or shorter. It’s also unlikely the driver will be an expert on the Tuscan wine regions, as we are…and no apologies for the lack of modesty.

Take the Train to Florence

By far the best solution for your private Tuscany wine tour from Rome would be to take the high-speed train from Rome to Florence. I can then pick you up directly from Florence S.M.N station, and we’ll be in the heart of the Chianti wine region in just over a half hour.

On the current timetable, there’s a convenient high-speed train from Rome, leaving at 07:25am, arriving in Florence at 09.01am (one hour 36 minutes). You could then book the return for 18:14 or 18:33 (06:14pm or 06:33pm).

You’ve probably looked up the pros and cons of spending your time in Rome, but here’s a little more info which you may find useful.

In 2024 Rome had 22.4 million visitors who spent 51.4 million nights in the city. This was an all time record, as was 2024 in general throughout Italy. The largest number of visitors to Rome was from Europe, followed by the US, South-East Asia, then Central-South America.

What to see? This is an almost impossible list to suggest, as even a month probably wouldn’t be enough. Due to it’s 2500 year old history, Rome is known as the “Eternal City,” and is home to iconic landmarks from the ancient Roman civilization, such as the Colosseum, the Forum, and Pantheon. Then we have Vatican City, an independent city-state within Rome, where you will find St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums, and the Sistine Chapel where you will remain in awe at Michelangelo’s iconic ceiling painting of “The Last Judgment”.

Architecture. Rome isn’t just about ancient Rome, it’s also renowned for its beautiful architecture from various periods and styles, including Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassical. So must sees are the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and Castel Sant’Angelo.

Artistic Treasures. Rome has a vast number of museums, galleries, and churches where you will find masterpieces by Michelangelo, Raphael, Caravaggio, and Bernini. Check out the he Galleria Borghese, Capitoline Museums, and MAXXI (National Museum of 21st Century Arts) just to name a few.

Culinary Delights. Italian cuisine is loved the world over, and I may add, rightfully so. Rome offers an abundance of tasty culinary experiences. You can indulge in authentic Roman dishes like pasta carbonara (a sort of bacon & egg sauce), pasta Cacio e Pepe (sheep’s cheese & pepper), and supplì (fried rice balls) to name just three. The city is also famous for its coffee culture, with numerous charming cafés and espresso bars where you can enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

Shopping and Fashion. Rome is a fashion capital, known for its high-end boutiques and superb Italian craftsmanship. The main shopping streets are: Via dei Condotti, Via del Corso, and the Spanish Steps.

Romantic Ambiance. Rome has a romantic allure that captivates everyone. Don’t miss the picturesque viewpoints like the Gianicolo and Pincian hills, and a romantic walk along the Tiber River is a must.

However don’t forget, your private Tuscany wine tour is waiting for you and it’s just an hour and half from Rome’s Termini rail station. Here’s a suggestion for something a little more exclusive and premium.
